About usYourWiki is a MediaWiki hosting service serving around 675 users that allows people who want to share their knowledge on a subject to do so. If you request a wiki here and that request is granted, you'll get your own subdomain and an installation of MediaWiki (managed by the YourWiki staff) that you can have administrative rights on. This main wiki (Meta) is here to catalog information about YourWiki, so if you ever need help with a wiki, just consult the information we have here, or join us in IRC (#yourwiki / freenode). Thanks for coming! |
Getting StartedTo get started, simply find a wiki on a subject that you're interested in! Check out our Wiki Directory for a listing of all of them, and then you're ready to start editing, reading, and collaborating on it! If we don't currently have a Wiki for a subject that you're interested in, go ahead and visit our Requests for new wikis page. If the subject isn't too obscure (i.e. there are enough people who know about it to form a community), then it will most likely be granted by the staff members! If you have any questions about this, visit us on IRC and ask away! |
Spotlight WikiAre you familiar with the Linux environment? Do want to start learning more about it? Then Linux Wiki is your wiki to participate in! As the name suggests, it's all about Linux, including its many features and flavours. It's perfect for learning about a specific Linux distribution that you want to try, for finding out the latest version of the Linux Kernel and how it works, and much more. They're always looking for more contributors to help the wiki grow, so visit the wiki today!
